Santa Claus read Clement Clarke Moore’s The Night Before Christmas to a room full of excited children on December 16 at the Ross King Public Library in Mount Pearl.
Keeping with the spirit of giving, the event was hosted by Community Care Mount Pearl which accepted cash and food donations for those in need. Before the second-annual event, CCMP chair Jeff Hillyard was excited to witness the turnout, given the amount of donations given the previous year.
“The easiest thing people can do to help is put food in our pantry,” he said.
Community Care Mount Pearl was initiated by librarian Cindy Hall two years ago this spring. One of the group's first endeavors was installing seven “Little Free Pantries” throughout the city.
In addition to the Christmas classic, Santa also read Finding Christmas by Robert Munsch, a story about a little girl determined to find where her Christmas presents are hiding.
