Voters endorse incumbents in Mount Pearl

Bill Antle has locked in another four year term at the Mount Pearl city council table

Antle scored a respectful 3,634 votes, placing him fifth overall.

“I’m quite happy with it, I must say,” said Antle.

Antle, along with all other incumbent members of council, were re-elected, despite an anonymous flyer distributed prior to the election encouraging residents to vote otherwise.

“I think the residents are saying that we’re on the right track, and that everything is doing perfect in Mount Pearl,” said Antle, who estimated that voter turnout may have actually been down from the 2017 election.

Antle has been one of five members of council holding the fort since former councillors Andrea Power and Andrew Ledwell were sacked for leaking pertinent details of the investigation into former CAO Steve Kent to Kent himself.

He said he’s glad to have a full complement of councillors once again to bear the burden. He also said that he looks forward to working with council, particularly those newly elected, which include Nicole Kieley, Chelsea Lane, and Mark Rice.
